Tex Crawford
Creating Art for me has always been about finding balance. I lost my mother to suicide when I was six and I leaned on art as a way to work thru and express my inner sadness as well as a way of translating the senseless into understanding. Connecting with my creative spirit has always been about answering questions that cause my spirit unrest. My art is propelled by curiosity and like most artists my voice or artistic style has risen out of a lifetime of mistakes and triumphs. Everything I create is on loan from the universe and from my heart!
I was born in Warner Robins GA in 1970. I was a child who’s visual nourishment came from an assortment of comic books, cartoons and lots of sci fi and monster movies as well as my father had subscriptions to National Geographic time and life magazines all of which have inspired some of the images and iconography in my art along my creative path.
I’m a self taught outsider artist who has been working with reclaimed materials in my art for over 25 years and specifically working with reclaimed roofing tin as a preferred medium for 18 years and my techniques as well as vision has evolved a lot since then in many ways.
I have created thousands of creations out of many oh fallen barns buildings and house tin roofs using an assortment of primitive tools guided by my curiosity and compulsion!
I use a lot of radiant and bright colors that embody positive energy as well as I incorporate a lot of tooth and claw, its all about finding balance between the joy and happiness we experience in life and the trials and tribulations that sometimes we must endure to both appreciate and understand that joy.
